Felipe's is an unexpected coupling of seriously cheap order-at-the-counter Mexican food and a spacious, polished multi-floored restaurant. (Don't forget to grab a marg on the rooftop!)
During my most recent visit, I ordered a chicken guacamole with guac for $8. Felipe's has it down. -

Felipe's is a great place to go whether you need a quick bite to eat or want a relatively cheap night out with friends or family. I really enjoy the authenticity of the food, especially compared to other Mexican restaurants in the greater Boston area.
I typically go for a super burrito which can be as cheap at $6.75, and never goes over $9, depending on what I get inside. I have also had the nachos which are amazing as well.
If it is your first time I might suggest going during the week and not during peak dinner time. The concept of the restaurant is similar to Chipotle or Subway in that you tell them what you want as they move you down the line. It can get very loud and crowded, but Felipe's moves the line really quickly!
Overall a great spot for affordable, authentic Mexican food if you don't mind the hustle and bustle! A true "must visit" if you're in the Harvard Square area. -

Food was cheap and fast, can't say it was that special tasting but still filling. Bar in the rooftop area is a lot of fun when weather permits. Spicy marg is tasty, and strong.
Guacamole is mediocre but they never end up charging the extra 1.50 at the register. -

Took a spontaneous trip to Boston in search of some tasty margaritas, and this is where my friend and I ended up. We knew about it's popularity amongst the Harvard crowd, so I walked in and wasn't surprised that it was bustling with movement and chatter. The line to order your food moves pretty quickly, and I settled with getting some carne asada tacos. We also ordered some margarita slushes.
The only stressful part of this dinner was that it was fairly difficult to find seating, but my friend and I finessed a small table in the seating area upstairs. Let's take a moment to praise the elevator- it increases the accessibility of the establishment AND keeps drunk folks from tripping while walking down the stairs.
My critiques: The additional taco "toppings" and salsas are pushed into a corner of the restaurant, so I didn't see them until I had already finished my food. If you can think of anything more sad than a dry taco, let me know. The margarita had a stronger taste than we thought it would, and it was even more difficult to drink because it was in slushy form. The cup didn't have a salted rim, so I'm a bit sad about that.
I very much enjoyed the guacamolillo sauce and wish I could have drizzled more onto my tacos. Might go back one day, but I'm unsure. -

I don't usually envy Harvard students, but when I do, it's usually because I remember that they have easy access to Felipe's -- a fast, cheap, and good establishment to get your taco, burrito, and/or margarita fix. (Note: the frozen margaritas are on the stronger side).
I have never been here when it wasn't packed, so if you do, you're in for a treat! It can be overwhelming to be a first time guest here, so be sure to make a decision about what you want before you reach the first server.
Getting seated is never easy, but somehow seats eventually open up!
